Those of you who have been around since the beginning know that the Queens Teen Book Slam has always been a labor of love for me, your hapless moderator, and being a control freak, it's been a one-librarian show. And it's been crazy a couple of times, like the summer I tried to connect to wi-fi on my vacation and my laptop crashed spectacularly and I couldn't send anyone questions or scores. And this year, well, I fear I will end up looking like the character in the classic picture book Caps for Sale because I am, as they say, wearing so many hats.
So because it would break my YA librarian heart to NOT offer the Book Slam (and since I already announced it anyway), I have decided to try a new format this summer. Instead of me emailing you questions and you emailing me them back, we'll be using an educational platform called Junoed.com.
The first time you email me for the questions for a book, you will receive a temporary code to access the site as a student. You'll create a username and password (NOTE: the email is optional, so don't put your email address in when you sign up) and you will have access to the trivia quiz you are ready to take. Best of all, you will get your score immediately! When you are ready to answer questions on the other books, you'll still have to email me and I'll activate those trivia quizzes, too.
What do you think? It'll be different but I'm excited to give it a try. Now I just have to read the books and write the questions . . .

Hey Vikki, Great idea! However, Juno may be new to some users, so I think you should have a practice quiz to help people become accustomed to the new format
Good point! I will create a test quiz for Slammers to try. Thanks for the suggestion.
is there going to be a 2014 bookslam? if so, how would we sign up for it? i'm a 14 year old teen girl and i really want to participate in this activity.
